Ulla Nielsen marks 40 years with Brio, now part of AKEA.
She trained as a technical assistant at Brio, a two-year course split between school and the workshop floor. One of her first jobs was measuring parts off a machine and drawing them by hand, first with ruler and pencil and later in AutoCAD version 2.1.
Today Ulla keeps Brio on track and handles purchasing and shipments to AKEA. She follows an order from the first step to the last. Her rule is simple: write down what you did, or you will not remember it.
Ask her what keeps her here and the answer is the people. Good bosses, good colleagues, and freedom under responsibility. Ask her what 40 years teaches you and the answer is respect for what everyone else does, because even a small part done wrong can stop a large project.
On the day, former AKEA owner Jan Kloster Pedersen arrived with a medal he had made himself: cardboard with two 20-krone coins on it.
Thank you for 40 years, Ulla.
