Wind Industry

Built for the energy transition

AKEA builds machines for wind energy fasteners and offshore components, from chamfering and peeling to thread rolling. Tower flange bolts, blade studs and foundation bolts run up to M100, and a wind turbine depends on every one of them.

Rolled for fatigue

A wind bolt is preloaded once and then carries cyclic load from every gust. Its thread is cold rolled, because rolling leaves compressive stress in the thread root where a fatigue crack would otherwise start. In testing on quenched and tempered 42CrMo4, rolled threads reached more than twice the fatigue strength of cut threads.

Built for M100 and beyond

Rolling a thread of that size means driving a rolling head into hardened alloy steel while the bar stays rigid and concentric. The GA Series chamfers, peels and rolls threads from M12 to M100 in one machine. The GA Upright Series reaches M120 on parts up to 12 metres.

Rolling heads from LMT Fette

AKEA is an OEM partner of LMT Fette and works closely with LMT Fette and its dealers. Their EVOLine axial rolling heads cover threads up to M100x6. The head forms the thread, and our machines do everything around it.
